Chloe update

Today has been SO long! I was up with Dej after work last night (2:30-3:45), and then I was sick for a while, so yet another day spent overdosing on caffeine to make up for the 3 hours of sleep I had. I-90, road construction, bad traffic, a car accident making the road construction slow down even worse, and four hours spent driving. That plus waiting for hours to find out about how Chloe's surgery went...it all made for a super long day and a less-than-pleasant mood. All that bitching, to say that despite a shitty-ish day, I feel great! Chloe is tumor free and home!

She came home right after surgery, so she was really tired and out of it. When we finally made it back to our driveway a little after 7 tonight, she was out cold. We decided to let her sleep it out in the backseat, since she was so worn out--poor girl. It was a beautiful night, so I left the windows down, with the car in the driveway and checked on her every 10-15 minutes. She finally showed signs of consciousness at around 8, at which time my parents pulled up. They helped me get her in the house where she napped in the living room with everyone around her. We carried her upstairs for bed and hope she sleeps through her inevitable discomfort (pain is probably more accurate.)

They removed the remaining four malignant tumors today. All four of them had shrunk, since her previous surgery. Removing the source of the estrogen proved to be helpful in reversing the cancer a bit. They were aggressive with removing her mammary glands and tissue, and they feel that they got her all cleaned up. Because they removed so much, her stitches are quite tight and the skin is pulled tightly. We'll have to keep a close eye on it and keep her very inactive for two weeks, as the stitches/skin will be at risk for ripping. Now that this surgery is behind us, she will be able to enjoy a normal healthy life--at least for a while, and there will be no more surgeries for her.

I was so afraid that they were going to tell me that she was just full of cancer today, I'm still giddy over the surprisingly great news! We will haave time with her! Now we can start thinking about stuff like teaching her to walk without completely tying up and tripping the leash holder every 25 feet or so. We can finally enjoy having her without having that constant little worry that we only had a few short weeks with her!

Oh! We did watch that movie, "Zach and Miri Make a Porno." It was hurt-my-stomach-from-laughing funny! We both laughed our asses off through the whole move, except for the 7-10 minute portion where it got kind of sappy and romantic. It's definitely not for the easily offended! There is a lot of language and nudity, but damn it was funny. Dej and Joe took it home with them last night (well it was really early this morning) to watch again. Tonight's Netflix is Caprica (Battle Star Galactica).
