Last night was our vegan dinner/silent auction for the Alliance. It was held at the Arboretum, for the first time. Chipotle donated the burritos (which were huge and tasty). There were also chips, salsa, and Coronas with lime. I enjoyed all of the food and drinks. It was a wonderful night, and we got a cat tree from the silent auction. It was a huge, beautiful tree that was donated by Mad Cats.
It's our housewarming gift for Dej & Joe, who will be moving back to town soon. We managed to get it home today, but only after much help and cooperation. Rick had his pickup truck there last night, so he took it home for the night. We borrowed my dad's van today and got the tree from Rick's truck and loaded it into my dad's van after Helene's funeral service. It was NOT fun to carry into our house and up the stairs. It will stay here in the kitten's room until Dej & Joe are settled into their new place.
The kittens and Sparta have already made themselves at home on the new tree. They are SO cute playing on it!
We arrived at the dinner last night early enough to walk around the arboretum and enjoy the beautifully blooming trees. We love that place. We got to see some wild turkeys running around quite close to us.
I loved the flowering quince, which was just starting up but gorgeous!
Today was busy--filled with chores, the funeral, my dad's 61st birthday celebration, and the kittens. My mom got my dad a new remote control car that he played with. Mark set up an obstacle course using cat toys, to test my dad's driving skill. Chloe didn't like the car though. She was terrified of it, so he put it up.
